Lincoln Project

Well, this is interesting.

“It was the darling of the resistance for savagely attacking Donald Trump. But now, everyone keeps rolling their eyes at the Lincoln Project and fears they may be clearing a path for the former president’s reemergence.”

Apparently, Rick Wilson wants Trump to be the Republican Nominee in 2024.

“And one of the organization’s most recognized members is facing blowback for rooting for another Trump nomination on grounds that he’d be the easiest Republican to beat in the general election.”

I don’t know about that. The fact remains if the 1/6 Committee recommends indictment/s of Trump in the aftermath of 1/6 Capitol riot and how accurate Trump approached Pence to not certify the 2020 election results. Thus far, if Trump runs again, he wins a rematch against Biden, and I doubt Pence will be Trump’s VP this time around.

So, lets examine Rick Wilson’s position.

“So co-founder Rick Wilson’s expressed desire in a recent interview to see him be the Republican nominee in 2024 has some people befuddled, particularly with polls showing Trump with a solid chance of ousting President Biden in a rematch.”

“”It begs the question, why? What’s their motive? What’s their motivation? And I can understand why a lot of people would say it has to do with money,” one network insider and political commentator told Fox News Digital.”

“”We want Trump to kill his own babies,” Wilson said. “We believe if we narrow the field and it’s only Trump in 2024, it’s an easy choice for Americans to say ‘no.'”” (qtd)

In other words, Lincoln Project ignores that many potential Republicans are withholding running a Presidential bid until after Trump determines if he runs again, but they want him to eat his own babies (whatever that means). If Rick Wilson means surrogates, I’m not sure of the wisdom here, but DeSantis is a Trumpism favorite as best as I can tell, and could be a viable VP pick for Trump should he run for 2024 Election cycle. Perhaps, he’s hoping that Trump’s political war machine will put off supporters, but I doubt that. Election cycles are verbal wars, and many rank and file Republicans view Republican establishmentarians as spineless or weak at best Uniparty members at worst or otherwise reconciled Democratic-Republican Party that broke up over slavery, central banking, and expansionism in the late 1800s.

“”As Americans, we must stem the damage he and his followers are doing to the rule of law, the Constitution and the American character,” they wrote.”

Beyond 1/6 what dangers to law enforcement do rank and file Republicans pose exactly? No one seems to answer that, which is probably why the 1/6 Committee are targeting supporters and organizers of the rally events of that day that encompasses members of Trump’s orbit and etc or perhaps they think Trump supporters are limited to conspiracy theorists as Alex Jones or “John Birch Society” types. Otherwise beats me.

“After its success in 2020, The New York Times reported Schmidt and its other leaders had designs on creating a billion-dollar global media empire out of the Lincoln Project.”

It looks like aside from scandels including the tiki torch race hoax that they want Trump to revive their dreams of being a billion dollar global media empire.

If Trump runs, his base support will support him win or lose. While they’re split on 2020 that it was ‘stolen’ or simply ‘lost’, his supporters will support him. The White Nationalist realm is out of the picture.

“Nine people who sued white nationalist leaders and organizations over the violence at a deadly rally in Charlottesville in 2017 won a $26 million judgment for the injuries and trauma they endured. But whether they will be able to collect a significant chunk of that money remains to be seen.

Many of the defendants are in prison, in hiding or have dropped out of the white nationalist movement. At least three of the far-right extremist groups named as defendants have dissolved. And most of the defendants claim they will never have the money needed to pay off the judgments against them.”

The so-called Alt-Right believed to be led by Spencer are DOA either in jail, dissolved, and/or financially crippled by $26 million Dollar judgement against them for injuries and trauma. For all purposes, this camp is beaten, so perhaps Rick Wilson believes with this wing down in flames that Trump lacks enough support to win an election bid in 2024.

“”The people who think we want Trump back in 2024 for any reason other than killing off his vile, repugnant cult and driving it into the dustbin of history display the same failure of imagination they always have,” he wrote.”

In other words, Rick Wilson imagines that Trump launching a 2024 election bid will lose with white nationalists DOA. From discourse with Trump supporters both online and to some extent in person, I’d say that Rick’s imagination is wrong. If Trump runs with how badly Biden is going, Trump stands a good chance at winning the 2024 Presidential bid. If he also makes DeSantis his VP, he’d win Republican support handily. Whether he could muster independents to vote Trump largely varies on Biden’s job as Presidency and right now; there’s a lot of buyer remorse. Rick Wilson risks cementing MAGA into the Republican Party for many years with his imagination.

But then, we’re talking Rick Wilson here. So, lets look for some articles by him.

Rick Wilson does a more witty version of mean tweets to illustrate Trump isn’t merely a “former guy”.

This one is shortly after 1/6, and I’m not intent to call it anything but a riot until the 1/6 Committee is done.

I’ve been surprised before, but it sounds like Wilson is banking alot on what people believe is Trump’s ego. Only time will tell the tell it would be more interesting if candidates for President wouldn’t defer to Trump’s potential 2024 bid rather than entering the battlezone known as election cycles.
