Extreme Elements 3

This is likely going to be a long running series, so expect more parts in the future as things become desperate I expect things to get worse. To begin, this link discusses the Jan 6th

“But court records show that the vast majority of the roughly 650 people federally charged in the riot were not part of far-right groups or premeditated conspiracies to attack the Capitol. Rather, many were an array of everyday Americans that included community leaders, small-business owners, teachers and yoga instructors. One wore his work badge, another a jacket with his phone number on the back. About 573 have no known affiliation with an extremist group, according to a Post analysis of court filings and public records as of Nov 3. Federal prosecutors have not identified serious criminal records in the cases of most suspects, although at least a dozen defendants have been accused or convicted of domestic violence.”

“A law enforcement official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation, said that while many in the FBI underestimated the desperation, anger and conspiratorial nature of the crowd, the evidence gathered to date shows the vast majority of participants “didn’t have a plan” to overthrow the government: “They didn’t know what they were doing. A lot of them didn’t even know where they were going. But they had a message, and the message was, the pitchfork people will show up again, and you need to be afraid of us.”” (qtd)

““Once we found out Pence turned on us … the crowd went crazy,” an Alabama landscaper said two days after the riot, in a YouTube video cited in government filings. “I mean, it became a mob. We crossed the gate.”” (qtd)

“Of more than 130 people charged with assaulting, resisting and impeding police, less than 10 are purported to be affiliated with or identify as members of organized groups such as the Oath Keepers or Proud Boys, according to a Post review of arrests and court documents. Small, angry groups formed one large mob in mere minutes, joined by common purpose.”

I was expecting more linked to an right-wing group, and I already knew the deaths were largely on the side of the rioters.

“Though most Jan. 6 rioters were not affiliated with extremist groups, prosecutors say members of the Three Percenters, Oath Keepers and Proud Boys all girded for violent action in advance. Some Proud Boys, prosecutors say, were among the first to tear down barricades and attack police. At least 77 defendants were purportedly affiliated with those far-right groups, according to the Post analysis.”

If Trump runs, I’ll wager Democrats run Jan 6th footage not his phone call.

“But there were also newer extremist groups in the mix — including several motivated by pandemic restrictions. A California yoga instructor named Alan Hostetter founded the American Phoenix Project in response to coronavirus lockdowns. In a December 2020 video, according to court records, he declared that the election was stolen and that “execution is the just punishment for the ringleaders of this coup.” He has pleaded not guilty to conspiring with five other Californians to recruit ‘armed fighters’ and obstruct the vote count.”

I generally read crap like this in the comments sections of right-wing sites, but this is largely a call to arms by Alan Hostetter.

“One defendant, Robert Reeder of Harford County, Md., is a registered Democrat who told FBI agents he found the former president distasteful. But he liked the message of “Make America Great Again,” and after the election, he touted groundless claims of fraud on Facebook.

“Civil war is coming,” he wrote in December. “This time the conservatives will stand their ground and the radicals will die.”” (qtd)

“Through attorneys, defendants have blamed Trump and his rhetoric for inspiring their behavior. But others continue to see their fate through a partisan lens.”

The link also discusses the charges in broad sense, and here we come to an opinion piece with regards to the midterms

Midterms are coming: Will we get answers on Jan. 6 before it’s too late?

“As of Tuesday, America is one year away from the congressional midterms, in which Republicans are pretty likely poised to take over both houses of Congress. If that happens in the House, the vital work of the Select Committee will screech to a halt, which would be a travesty of epic proportions.”

I doubt it. Pretty sure, it would fall under an impeachable offense. As I said, I’d imagine Democrats running Jan 6 footage on rerun will doom Trump’s election premises if he runs in 2024.

Now, we get into extremism from DHS

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/domestic-extremists-pushing-violence-against-congress-school-health-officials-dhs-n1283672

“Domestic extremists continue to exploit false narratives to promote violence online, calling for attacks on members of Congress, public health and school officials, even as they share information about how to build bombs, according to a new intelligence bulletin by the Department of Homeland Security that paints a picture of persistent danger.”

“The new document includes a lot of the same language, according to a senior official who has read it. But it speaks to some new developments, including the exploitation of the American withdrawal from Afghanistan by both foreign terrorists and domestic racists.”

“The ongoing pandemic continues to be a spark for violent rhetoric, DHS found, especially by those angered by mask and vaccine mandates and restrictions on normal activity.”

“If a new Covid variant emerges and new restrictions are imposed, “anti-government violent extremists could potentially use the new restrictions as a rationale to target government or public health facilities.”” (qtd)

“”Extremists have called for attacks on elected officials, political representatives, government facilities, law enforcement, religious communities, commercial facilities and perceived ideological opponents.”” (qtd)

Maybe not extremist is below’s link, but it discusses how Democrats and Republicans aren’t unified blocs but largely a loose alliance of multiple factions within a categorical group.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10183647/Americas-NINE-political-tribes-according-Pew-Research.html

“U.S. voters are segmented into nine political tribes – four that lean left, four that lean right, and the ‘stressed sideliners’ who have a minimal interest in politics – according to a report released Tuesday by the Pew Research Center.”

“This group is ‘intensely conservative in all realms’, according to Pew. They make up 23 per cent of Republicans and independents who lean Republican, making them one of the two largest GOP-leaning groups. They are majority white and Christian. They’re more likely than other groups to argue that government policies should support religious values. They’re also less likely to believe in compromise in politics. Most say that Trump is probably the winner of the 2020 election, believing the so-called ‘big lie.’ Pew found that 79 per cent of this group believes too much attention has been paid to the January 6 Capitol attack.”

I would say this camp needs some simple due diligence. Trump lost, and Jan 6th will be the primary weapon against him in the general election although some polls have Trump leading in a hypothetical rematch with Biden. Biden’s biggest downfalls right now are:
-Supply crisis

-Inflation

-Labor shortage amplified by his vax mandate

1). Biden should deregulate, so suppliers can more readily meet demand.

2). Biden should persuade the Federal Reserve to pursue a 0% mandatory inflation rate.

3). Stop scaring people that are vaxxed against unvaxxed. It’s pretty simple if you’re vaccinated; you shouldn’t have anything to fear why demonize a group of people that includes some of your own voters.

4). Don’t give in to the RINO wing of the Republican Party namely the Bush Republicanism and Neocon factions, they want war, so continue to uphold the peace.

5). If you want to discuss civility, this begins with stop scaring people and recognize you represent not only your voters but also those who didn’t vote for you. If Biden did these 5 things, I believe things would improve, and his chances for re-election goes up including some polls hoping for a rematch between Trump and Biden.

Lets hope that calls for civility isn’t just political rhetoric as it has for some years now.
